Meet The Face Behind The Site!
Hi! My name is Ashley! I am an electrical engineer. I was a teen mom who dropped out of high school to provide for my child. Counseling and guidance from organizations dedicated to disadvantaged youth helped me complete my GED and enroll in community college.
I completed my associate’s degree in engineering at Prince George’s Community College while working full-time as an administrative assistant. Later, I transferred to the University of Maryland College Park, where I completed a certificate in Latin American and Caribbean studies and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 2022. I held internships in computational chemistry, quantum research, parts, materials, and processes, and scientific computing.
My trajectory into higher education allows me to attest to the unique experiences of mothers. I navigated through different stages of education as a mom and provider. I understand the needs of parents, specifically mothers, as we pursue any stage of our education, whether a high school diploma or a bachelor’s degree. I am extending my experiences through Mom’s Stepping Stones to provide a community to other mothers who are completing their education.
